Chander had already set up the cooking place/chula and the base of the tent. Soon after enjoying a much deserving chai we helped Chander in erecting the tent, only to realize the mouth of the tent was opening on the wrong side!! Damn all that hard work. We demolished the tent again and re-erected it. Got ourselves set in the tent, till the sun was shining over us. Oh btw it took us about 2-3 hrs to reach up. Chander got busy into preparing the evening supper. We had to have a camp fire, so me, Dr.Mondal and Chander went wood hunting.
The rather funny thing of this trek was, we had Airtel network all through it. Since we look down at Manali, and the valley being pretty wide, you get mobile signals. So our Lover boy or Shubhodip got busy chatting to his Lover girl. If I am not wrong he kept standing on the same place for quite some time talking to his loved ones, so that there’s no break in the signal. And he kept doing that all along the trek. Remaining two of us had switched off our phones long time back!! Well I always thought that, the purpose of a trek was to refresh yourself, take a break from your daily life and stay away from the world for a while. Shubhodip did the opposite!! At times you find that funny but after a while it does get irritating. When you are out with your friend, in a mountain, your family knows, your girlfriend knows, so shut the phone up and stay loyal to your friends!! Ohh…. Me.. I don’t even tell my parents that I am going to the hills and when out on treks with mates… I Switch off the phone!!!
We had a nice Khichdi for dinner. I have done it quite a few times now, but let me tell you, every time I sit by the campfire and dine under the open sky, and the shining stars, its different! Soon the fire started slowing. Tired of our travel and days hike, we called it a day. Went inside the tent and buried ourselves under our sleeping bags, just to realize, it was just 8pm. Nonetheless we attempted to sleep. Every time Shubhodip stopped snoring for a while we went off to sleep and then one of us snored!!!
